Inland Marina of the Year 2018/19

    Inland Marina of the Year

This is the third consecutive year Aqueduct Marina has won this prestigious award which is all the more special as its voted for by our berth holders.

Aqueduct marina is a modern facility offering extensive services to a wide range of clients with individual needs. It’s the marina’s vision to create a “Hotel for Boats” experience so that customers spend less time on problems and more time on leisure.

We achieve this experience by having an extensive array of services, facilities and knowledgeable staff on one site and by embracing our companies’ key values of being Dynamic, aspirational and engaging. The onsite café, chandlery and meeting room are available to berth holders as well as the public. These key recreational facilities are a major part of the customers experience and serve as a self-defined benchmark for the level of hosting Aqueduct offer. Moorers at the marina also receive a discount for services such as the café, maintenance and amenities like the local Spa hotel. Fee advice or guidance is also a major part of what the marina does, and we operate an open-door policy to encourage clients to engage with our predominantly time served team who can often say that they have known both client and boat for several years.

One example of this is the recent Moorers focus groups we ran where Moorers could come and have a complementary breakfast whilst talking to staff about their experiences, issues and boating aspirations. We have recently also introduced a monthly Moorers coffee mornings to help Moorers meet fellow boaters and share their experiences.

We pride ourselves on everything from a friendly welcome to a well fabricated piece of steel work and believe strongly that our clients trust our experienced team with one of their most important assets… their leisure time.

Overall our Marina provides the relaxed and safe environment. We achieve this each and every day with a team of helpful and knowledgeable staff who genuinely care for both the short and long term demands of all our customers.

Robert Parton (Managing Director) commenting on this years award said: “Aqueduct Marina is delighted and flattered to be awarded a Marina of the Year award, especially as it is selected by popular vote. We thank everyone who voted and look forward to meeting our existing, new and returning customers during this our 10th anniversary year, culminating on 13 July with our Aqueduct Boat show and party. All welcome”

Philip Langley (Marina and Operations Director) also said: “The board would like to take this opportunity to especially thank the fantastic staff here at the marina, without them none of this would be possible. The level of detail and effort the staff go to is amazing and undoubtedly this is a major part of the marina’s success”

    A Day for Boaters

Running from 10am until 10pm, the day was specifically designed for boaters and took place on the site grounds located off the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal near Nantwich

The day offered the opportunity for owners to look at the marina’s new controlled painting environments, re-vamped chandlery and extensive engineering operations.

A selection of new and used boats were also offered for sale with new boat builders Knights Narrowboats and Aintree Boast also in attendance.

On land, professional staff, surveyors and suppliers were on hand to answer all boating questions from buying a boat through essential maintenance, mooring, painting and much more…

Canal societies and trade stands were also in attendance including Promarine Finance, GJW Direct, Canal and Rivert Trust, British Marine, Seddon Plants, Wurth Comsumables, Cover and Canvas, Shropshire Union Canal Society, SUMBA and the Small Task Team Volunteers. Other experts on site included Boat Surveyor Peter Tindall, Boat Safety Examiner Russ Smith and Keith Meadowcroft from Volt Master.

Boating was also made beautiful with a showcase of Aqueduct Marina’s most recent painting projects with all workshops open and three of the marinas prestigious narrowboats Another Fluke, Cheshire Star and Emen’s Friend on display. Live sign-writing demonstrations were also completed by Robin Wagg.

Commenting on the day Robert Parton, Marina Managing Director, said, ‘Having organised a successful Family Fun Day for the past 7 years the change of focus has enabled us to bring together a community of boaters giving existing customers the opportunity to catch up and new visitors the chance to get to know us. We are delighted with the response from the day and would like to thank all those who came. We would also like to say a special thank you to exhibitors, staff and boat owners.

Restoration work on the Canal & River Trust boats was available to view, with special workboats showcasing welding processes and boat fabrication.  The day rolled into the evening with a hog roast for moorers and live music performed by Alex Green. There was also a raffle with all funds going towards Kidney Research UK, the marina’s chosen charity for 2018.”

Clive Carter from GJW Direct commented, “I managed to provide 15 insurance quotations during the day and I am very hopeful that we will be able to turn the vast majority of these in to policies.  Several other people took away details and I also spoke to quite a few current GJW customers whose boats are moored in the marina.  I was busy all day with a good flow of people, but it was a very relaxed atmosphere and I was able to talk at length with everyone that attended my stand.”

Aqueduct Marina will be hosting the event again next year.
